Researching transformation through embodied design

Caroline Hummels gave a presentation on researching transformation through embodied design at the Kees Overbeeke symposium (TU/e; October 19, 2018). Late Professor Overbeeke was one of the pioneers of embodied cognition, who introduced together with Gerda Smets this concept in the design field in the eighties. In her lecture, Hummels reflected on the design research principles that Overbeeke and the Designing Quality in Interaction group at TU/e developed over the years. She also showed how the work has progressed since by elaborating e.g. on the concept of Prompted Rationality. The initial eight principles that Overbeeke and his colleagues developed, can be found in the chapter Industrial Design in the Encyclopedia of Human Computer Interaction.
